Symptoms of Sore Throat Due to Covid

Rp_News88..Is a sore throat a symptom of Covid?  Signs of coronavirus explained and what to do if you test positive.

The increase in cases comes as restrictions are relaxed across the country, and new variants of Deltacron continue to spread.

You can also get infected multiple times, so it's important to know the signs.

Is a sore throat a symptom of Covid?

The NHS has highlighted the three main symptoms of Covid as follows:

1. High temperature: This means you feel hot to touch your chest or back (you don't need to take your temperature).

2. A new, persistent cough: This is defined as coughing profusely for more than an hour, or three or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually cough, it may be worse than usual).

3. Loss or alteration of the sense of smell or taste (anosmia): This means you have noticed that you cannot smell or taste anything, or that things smell or taste differently than usual.

The NHS doesn't list a sore throat as a symptom of Covid, but other health authorities do, such as the American Centers for Disease Control.

According to Yella Hewings-Martin, PhD from the ZOE Covid Study, which tracks symptoms across the country, the most common symptoms reported by sufferers these days are sore throat, headache, runny nose, fatigue and sneezing.

Study Zoe Covid wrote in a post last year that although a sore throat is a less well-known symptom of Covid-19, it is an early sign of the disease and is fairly common in children and adults up to age 65.

People who use the app have reported experiencing sore throats that feel similar to what you might experience during a cold or strep throat.

They emphasized that COVID-19 related sore throats tend to be relatively mild and last no more than five days.

A very painful sore throat that lasts more than five days may be caused by something else such as a bacterial infection, so don't be afraid to call your doctor if the problem persists.

Sore throats are common and are caused by many respiratory ailments such as the common cold. So even though many people with Covid-19 have a sore throat, most people who have a sore throat will not get Covid-19.

It added that symptoms usually appear in the first week of illness and last for two to three days, although sometimes it can be longer.
