Don't Ignore Chest Pain, It Can Be The Cause Of Chronic Disease

Rp_News88..Chest pain is not something that can be ignored. Please note, that this condition has many possible causes of a disease.

In many cases, chest pain is related to heart disease. But chest pain can also be caused by problems in the lungs, esophagus, muscles, ribs, or nerves.

Some of these conditions can be life threatening if left untreated. If you have chest pain, the only way to determine the cause is to see a doctor.

Four Causes of Chest Pain.

Quoted from WebMD, there are at least four causes of chest pain.

Some of them require further examination by a doctor.

1. Heart attack

Reduced blood flow through blood vessels can lead to the death of heart muscle cells.

Although similar to chest pain from coronary heart disease or angina, a heart attack usually causes more severe pain.

This pain is usually felt in the center or left side of the chest and does not go away quickly.

This pain is also accompanied by sweating, nausea, shortness of breath, or fatigue.

2. Inflammation of the lining of the lungs

This disease, known as pleurisy, is inflammation or irritation of the lining of the lungs and chest.

A person may feel pain when breathing, coughing, or sneezing.

The most common causes of pneumonia are bacterial or viral infections, pulmonary embolism, and pneumothorax.

Other causes are rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and cancer.

3. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)

Chest pain can be due to GERD. Also known as acid reflux, GERD can occur when stomach contents back up into the throat.

This condition can cause a sour taste in the mouth and a burning sensation in the chest or throat, also known as heartburn.

Things that can trigger stomach acid are smoking, spicy or fatty foods, to being overweight.

Heartburn and heartburn from acid reflux feel very similar in part because the heart and esophagus are located close to each other and share a network of nerves.

4. Tight chest muscles

Lastly, chest pain can be caused by tense muscles.  Even a very loud cough can injure the muscles and tendons between the ribs, causing chest pain.

This pain can get worse if not accompanied by rest.
