Why the Author Changed the Original She-Hulk Story for a Serial Version
According to Gao, when talking with Inverse, he adjusted the story of Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) in the series to the personality and mental state of Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far.
"To me, the change is simply because it doesn't match the Bruce Banner we know. We've seen Banner for more than a decade, and he's battling the power of this Hulk," Gao said.

"He was tormented by this. He saw 'Hulk' as a curse. It took him a decade to achieve balance and acceptance of that power," he continued.
In the original story by Stan Lee and John Buscema in 1980, Jennifer Walters is the daughter of a police officer. Once, a robber wanted to take revenge on Jennifer's father.
However, Jennifer was caught in the crossfire and was seriously injured. Her life was saved after her cousin, Bruce Banner, gave a blood donation which also accidentally transferred blood exposed to gamma rays and gave Jennifer the Hulk ability.

While in the serial version, Jennifer is told to be exposed by accident while trying to help Bruce Banner. The two of them get into a car accident while avoiding an alien plane that suddenly appears in front of them.
When Jennifer, who had an open wound on her hand, tried to get Bruce out and in the wrecked car, Bruce's blood splashed onto the wound.
Bruce who is in a weak condition tries to warn his cousin to stay away from his blood. But the warning was ignored and too late, Bruce's blood which contains the power of the Hulk absorbs quickly into Jennifer's body.

"Bruce never saw the power of the Hulk as great. It forced him not to have a romantic relationship with anyone," said Gao. "I just can't imagine Bruce being willing to choose to share what he considers a curse," he continued.
According to ScreenRant, Gao's decision is an interesting one in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Because of the accident, Gao avoids the audience having to witness Jennifer's inner struggle to become the Hulk as Bruce Banner has seen for decades.
Not only that, in this series, Bruce as a "smart Hulk" has even prepared all the preparations and taught Jennifer regarding the power of the Hulk. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is part of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and is the eighth television series in the universe.

The story of this series is based on the character of Jennifer Walters aka She-Hulk by Stan Lee and John Buscema. The She-Hulk character first appeared in comics with The Savage She-Hulk #1 in February 1980.
In the comics, She-Hulk will be part of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Heroes for Hire, the Defenders, Fantastic Force, and S.H.I.E.L.D.
Her experience of becoming a superhero by accident and as a lawyer, Jennifer Walters often draws on her legal and life experiences as an advisor to superheroes as well as metahumans.
